Teen Convicted For Killing Classmate In PA Park Across From School

A teenager has been convicted of murdering his high school classmate in a park across from the school, according to court documents updated on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Javion Roman, now 19 but he was 17 at the time of the shooting, of York, was convicted for the murder of Malaki Beady, 17, of York, on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Beady, also of York, was found shot dead in the 200 block of West Maple Street in York's Penn Park on Wednesday, Mar. 23, around 11 a.m., the York County coroner's office confirmed in a release on Thursday.

They were both seniors at William Penn Senior high school— which is located across the street from the park where Brady's body  was found.

Beady's cause of death was a single-gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was homicide according to the coroner's office.

Roman has been found guilty of criminal homicide among other related offenses. He was charged as an adult.

He had been held without bail in York County Prison since his arrest after the shooting.

His sentencing date was not available at the time of publishing.
